WCT held its Annual Review Meet on September 6-9, 2026, at the Olive Resort, Pench, Maharashtra. It was a fun-filled and action-packed few days, replete with insightful presentations, spirited discussions, and some well-deserved celebrations. Teams representing WCT’s various departments – Conservation Research, Resilient Futures, Combatting Wildlife Crime Programme, Human-wildlife Interface Management, WildTech, Ecosystem Restoration, Admin & HR, Finance, and Nature Communications – gathered at the venue for the meet.

The agenda and structure of this intensive three-day Review Meet was chaired by Dr. Anish Andheria, President, WCT, supported by the HR team. The Meet entailed the teams giving informative and engaging presentations on not only the important work done in the last financial year, achievements, gaps, learnings, and future plans, but also productive discussions on inter-departmental collaborations, recruitment strategies in the age of AI, further strengthening project governance processes, fundamentals of structuring research projects, among other topics.

Celebrating Our Human and Canine Heroes
Often significant and heroic actions go unnoticed. Our teams work bravely in the field every day, facing challenges and risks head on. At WCT, we do everything possible to ensure the team’s safety on the ground, including through building capacity of the field staff in safety training. This year, at the ARM, we honoured two individuals who showed exemplary courage that saved lives, with WCT Awards for Exceptional Bravery. Ravindra Kumar, our field consultant in Bhagalpur, Bihar, who saved an old man from drowning in the Ganga river was recognised for his bravery.

Rajendra Bhoyar, our field assistant in Sindewahi was also honoured with the WCT Award for Exceptional Bravery for displaying courage and presence of mind that averted a fire-related disaster and saved a house from being destroyed by flames.
We also honoured our four-legged canine team members for their service to conservation, loyalty, and bravery. In a touching ceremony, Hira, Ace, and Impi — our beloved conservation dogs, were awarded WCT’s Canine Commitment medals!

WCT continued the tradition of honouring those team members who have devoted more than ten and five years to WCT with ‘Long Service Award’. We are proud that nearly 50 per cent of ‘WCTians’ have earned this award in the past three years!
