Providing Sustainable Livelihoods to Young People in Buffer Zone Villages of Tadoba.
With the support of DSP Investment Managers Private Limited, WCT has initiated a livelihoods project for youth living in the buffer zone villages of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra. The objective of the project is to provide gainful employment to these young people thereby raising their income levels and standard of living. In turn, it is expected that this will reduce their dependence on nearby forests, thus feeding into WCT’s larger mission of protecting vital ecosystems. The project is being implemented by the Head Held High Foundation. The first batch of young people are currently being trained and are excited about their career prospects.
