We are looking for a highly motivated electronics/ electrical/ mechatronics/ computer or software engineer or graduate (fresher-level) to work with us as a Research / Technical Associate in the WildTech project at Wildlife Conservation Trust (WCT).

Applicants may consider the following.

  1. This full-time position will be mostly desk-based, in Nashik, Maharashtra, and may involve occasional trips for fieldwork to WCT field sites across the country. The work involves assisting in design, development & replication of innovative technologies in wildlife conservation and ecological monitoring, with an emphasis on electronics assembly and programming.
  2. Candidates should be skilled in practical & applied electronics, proficient in at least one programming language: ideally Python or Matlab,familiar with programming and workings of sensors, microcontrollers and microprocessors like Raspberry Pi, ESP 32, Arduino etc. Candidates should have effective communication skills in English/ Hindi. Vendor management, experience with procurement of materials, and communication skills on social media will be desirable additional skills that the candidate should be comfortable with.
  3. Candidates who have completed independent projects in their institutes are encouraged to write about the same in detail in their application as that would carry additional weightage in the selection process. Early career engineers (< 3 years of professional experience) with a B.E / B.Tech in relevant subjects are especially encouraged to apply. More than academic scores or volume of experience, we value skill, creativity, and new ideas.
  4. Due to the nature of the work, candidates from Nashik or nearby locations would be preferred.
  5. The candidate must be willing to commit to the work for at least one year. The field of tech innovation in environmental monitoring and mitigation solutions has tremendous future scope for professional growth and development, as a career choice. Fresh graduates will, if selected, gain tremendously in developing an inter-disciplinary research and synthesis skill set, across engineering fields, project management, computation, material sciences, and ecological sciences. This can help them in becoming capable and well suited for a wide range of job prospects in the future.
  6. The salary will be as per level of experience and suitability for the position, and will be commensurate with demonstrated skills, thinking, and capacity to innovative technology development. There will be a performance assessment after six months of starting the work. Contract extensions will be subject to annual review and may be extended further depending on performance and willingness to continue.
  7. Selected candidates will be encouraged to develop their own ideas and execute them, provided that they align with our short- and long-term project objectives. This role will help candidates, through flexibility and creativity, to advance their learning in technological innovations, and this experience in “building technological products from scratch” with a strong research orientation, which will help catapult them into a professional space that is going to be increasingly in demand, in the fields of environmental monitoring, IoT, telecommunications, biomimicry, and advanced applications of high-end electronics, materials, and integrated sensors.
